About Yuzi

Yuzi is a Vietnamese backpack and bag brand founded in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022. Our products are technical enough for the outdoors and streamlined enough for everyday city life.
At a glance
Yuzi is owned by Di Dau Do Di Joint Stock Company (Công ty Cổ phần Đi Đâu Đó Đi), founded in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022. The brand started with hiking backpacks, the hardest category to make and the one with the smallest market, then expanded into work backpacks, sling bags and travel accessories. Since 2026, Yuzi has worked on a CMT (cut, make, trim) model and takes a direct part in production: we control the sourcing of materials and components, own the designs and patterns, and manage suppliers directly, while partner sewing workshops handle cutting and sewing. The goal is to truly understand the craft of making bags.
It started with hiking backpacks
Yuzi's first product was a hiking backpack, the hardest category to get right in the bag industry.
A backpack comes down to three things: design, materials and build quality. An ordinary backpack can get away with a weakness in one of them. A hiking backpack needs all three at once.
The number of components is the first difference. A hiking backpack is made from about fourteen groups of materials: main fabric, accent fabric, lining, breathable mesh, padding foam, support frame, cord, webbing, zippers, buckles, hooks, stoppers, thread and labels. Each group comes from its own supplier, with its own inspection requirements and lead times. An ordinary backpack needs fewer than half of these.
The second difference is the load-support system. The back frame, hip belt and harness of a hiking backpack transfer weight from the shoulders to the hips, so every seam is a load-bearing seam. The level of sewing skill required is much higher than for everyday bags.

A foundation for everything that followed
The supply chain, inspection process and sewing skills built for hiking backpacks are reused for Yuzi's work backpacks and everyday bags. That is why our everyday lines launched after the hiking packs, not before.
Our core value: choosing the category few people make
Few Vietnamese brands make hiking backpacks, and the reasons sit on both sides of the business.
On the cost side, this category is far more expensive: fourteen groups of materials to source, many rounds of sampling, and field testing that stretches over many trips before a design is approved.
On the market side, far fewer people in Vietnam go on multi-day treks than need a backpack for work. Low volumes push up the cost of each product and make it take longer to earn back the investment.
That explains why most of the hiking backpack brands selling well in Vietnam are foreign names. Yuzi still chose to start here, for three reasons:
- The technical challenge. If you can make the hardest category, the others are within reach. It does not work the other way around.
- A passion for the outdoors. The Yuzi team hikes, camps and tests gear in the field. Our products come from the needs of the people who make them.
- Proving what Vietnamese manufacturing can do. Technical backpacks have long been assumed to be imports. Yuzi wants to show that Vietnamese makers can produce gear in this category.
What Yuzi is after
A brand in it for the long run needs its own place, not the easy road. A hard category is where skill makes a real difference, and where the experience you build up cannot be taken away.
2026: taking part in production
In 2026, Yuzi moved to a CMT model and began taking a direct part in production. Partner workshops handle cutting and sewing. Everything upstream, from materials to patterns and suppliers, is managed by Yuzi.

Three areas where Yuzi keeps the final say:
- Sourcing materials and components. Yuzi works directly with material manufacturers, sets the specification and quality for each lot, manages its own materials warehouse and calculates material consumption for every product.
- Design and pattern ownership. Yuzi keeps the technical drawings and pattern sets, orders molds to its own designs, and coordinates die-cutting for fabric, mesh and plastic parts.
- Direct control of the supplier network. Each material group has its own supplier, chosen and monitored by Yuzi, with a preference for long-term relationships and clearly documented origins.
Zippers and buckles are the most visible part of this approach. Yuzi orders them directly from the manufacturers and receives them in documented lots, instead of using components bought by the workshop.

This approach means investing in things a distributor never needs: a materials warehouse, a detailed consumption system down to every meter of fabric, and a technical team that works closely with the workshops.
In return, Yuzi controls quality from the materials stage, can trace the origin of every component in a product, and keeps control over its costs.
Why we chose this path
A reseller only needs to know how a product sells. A brand that makes things needs to know why a product turns out the way it does: how one fabric lot differs from another, which details work on the production line and which only look good on paper, and what materials really cost. That knowledge builds up with every order and carries over to every product that follows.
Yuzi gear in real use
Bui Van Ngoi, the first Vietnamese climber to summit Mount Everest (8,850 m) on the morning of May 18, 2008, is one of the people who use Yuzi backpacks.
Vietnamese climbers also carry Yuzi backpacks on trips in the Himalayas, where conditions mean low temperatures, strong wind, heavy loads and many days in a row with no way to repair gear.

Recognition in e-commerce
Metric is a sales analytics platform for Vietnamese e-commerce marketplaces. Its hiking backpack industry report, covering January to December 2025 on Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada and Tiki, listed Yuzi among the most widely distributed and top-selling hiking backpack brands, alongside Quechua, Camel Crown, Jack Wolfskin and Decathlon.

Yuzi was the only Vietnamese brand on the list, next to four international brands with long histories and global distribution.
| Brand on the list | Origin |
|---|---|
| Yuzi | Vietnam |
| Quechua | France, part of Decathlon |
| Camel Crown | China |

Our main materials are YUGRID™ technical fabric and Polyester Diamond 600D, combined with components from YKK®, Duraflex® and Woojin®.
All Yuzi backpacks and bags are made in Vietnam. The Yuzi Fresh hydration bladder and our two trekking pole models are produced in China to Yuzi's designs and standards, because these products require specialized production lines.
Community involvement
Beyond our products, Yuzi supports programs for students and for the outdoor community in Vietnam.

This usually means donating products for community events, workshops and student programs, and joining talks on hiking and trekking safely.

On quality control, Yuzi does not release any production lot that fails our internal standards, even if the products would still be usable.
Where we are heading
Yuzi's long-term goal is to become a Vietnamese bag brand that can stand alongside international names such as Aer, Bellroy and Able Carry, at a fair price.
Alongside our products, Yuzi is building a library of articles on materials, testing standards and how to choose a backpack, with more than forty articles so far, each citing its sources. The articles are currently available in Vietnamese.
